ALS: 10 Years in Our Fight to Find a Cure
Building Hope, Supporting Families, and Raising Awareness for ALS in the Greater Cincinnati Area
ALS (Lou Gherig’s Disease) affects 5,000 or more families a year.
At DeVol, we’re committed to transforming lives for ALS patients and their families through custom home solutions and community support.
Our Commitment
For nearly 30 years, DeVol Design Build Remodel has served the Greater Cincinnati area, including Loveland, Milford, Anderson, Blue Ash, and Wyoming … with a passion for helping our community.
A very important part of that has been our support of Lou Gherig’s patients and families that have been affected by this terrible disease.
A Milestone We Never Wanted

This year is our 10th year of being involved with local ALS-focused charities who are just as passionate about finding a cure for Lou Gherig’s Disease as we are. It’s not an accolade as much as a call to do even more in hopes that one day, ALS will be a memory… and never steal away family members again.
The fact is, it is a progressive (and always fatal) neuromuscular disease. It robs people of the ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe; often within 2 to 5 years of diagnosis. (Learn more here.) We partner with ALS United Ohio (and others over the years) to ease these challenges, designing and building safe, accessible homes that bring comfort and dignity to patients and caregivers. As well as, contributing as a company to fundraising that we hope one day will bring about a cure.
“When I first started working with clients who have this disease, it broke my heart,” says Jeff DeVol, President of DeVol Design Build Remodel. “I saw these hurting families and I knew we needed to do something more than just remodel their houses.”
Building for a Better Life
There are 5,000 new cases yearly in the U.S. and a large part of what we do to help these families is remodeling their homes so they can live more comfortably and support their loved one with ALS.

We specialize in transforming homes to meet the unique needs of Lou Gherig’s patients. Our modifications can include wheelchair ramps, widened doorways, barrier-free showers, roll-under sinks, higher toilets with grab bars, and others. All to enhance safety and independence.
Partnering With Our Neighbors to Make a Difference
We work hand-in-hand with ALS United Ohio and hundreds of volunteers, donors & community organizations across the Greater Cincinnati area to push the limit of modern medicine and fight for the cure.
