We finished up the interior for a V.A. Adaptive Housing grant remodeling project in Ripley, OH for one of our honored veterans.
This former soldier really needed a home that is more easily used by someone who uses a wheelchair every day. So, we helped by addressing areas of the most need and remodeling them so they are accessible and much more functional for him.
Ripley, OH remodeling features
Obviously, there is a lot that goes into planning and creating the spaces in someone’s home. When we do SAH grant remodeling, we pay particular attention to the needs of the veteran we’re serving and their family. Here are a few of the features included in this project.
Fire safety – We installed an exterior door leading out of the bedroom in case of fire, allowing for a faster exit from the home in case of fire.
Hardwood floors – His bedroom now has hardwood floors, which are much easier when you use a wheelchair.
Bathroom – His bathroom now works for him in his daily life. He now has a new sink that he can use with his wheelchair (a roll-under sink). He also has a brand new shower that he can get in and out of easily. Also, by installing a regular shower head and a hand held shower, he can finally sit, relax and enjoy taking a shower.
